Stereotypes in the movie "300"

The movie 300, is about the battle of Themopylae. The racial and sexual stereotypes used to caricature the ancient Greeks and Persians, and exaggerate the differences between them are just what was expected to happen as we learned in class.

In the movie the Greeks were seen as the good guys. They were being over run by the extremely huge Persian army. Now in the movie all of the Spartan soldiers are played as white males. This gives the illusion that white males are the good guys. On the other hand, the Persian armies leader is played by a Brazilian man. The Persian leader Xerxes is shown as the bad guy who wants to rule the world. This gives a perfect example of minority stereotyping.

The entire movie is based around the stereotype that the Persians (middle easterners) are bad people and are seen as a terrorist of sort bent on taking over the world. There is only six characters that are shown as Persians and those of the messengers in the beginning of the movie.
